21 weeks = carrot

I had my 21 week checkup today. My blood pressure was fine. My heartbeat was in sync with Margaret's, although hers is twice as fast as mine. We were both in good shape. We are also now to the point where they can measure to make sure I am getting big enough fast enough.

The midwife asked if I was having less problems with feeling sick this time. I said yes, I had started to feel better about a week ago. So she made a comment along the lines of noticing that I hadn't gained any weight until this appointment. I assume she means that in a good way! I'll do my official weigh in at home tomorrow but I am quite sure I will have registered a gain that puts me above my pre-pregnancy weight now.

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.
