I just had my 37 week checkup with the midwife. Everything is looking good. Margaret is still head down. Her heart rate is good. My blood pressure is good. I have gained a little less than one pound since last week so that is good. All around good.
The midwife also gave me a longer list of possible signs of labor and some tips on when to leave the office vs not going to the office vs hanging out for a bit and waiting for things to progress. We also talked a bit about how long it might take for the baby to come. It's very hard to tell because I was induced with Max, and because I have already been in labor once this pregancy. I could have another little mini labor like I did a week ago, or I could just have Margaret next time. Either way I will not be having the baby here in DC. Or on the side of 395. :)
Here's the official scoop:
How your baby's growing:
Congratulations — your baby is full term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away.Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.
