Making some progress

So it was a bit of a crazy week.

Mark came to bed around midnight on Tuesday night. At 1218am I had my first contraction. I wrote down the time and then tried to go back to sleep. But the contractions kept coming. I got up and drank some water and tried to read a book. At 115am I called the midwife. My contractions were about 4 minutes apart, were lasting about a minute, and were about 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the pain I remember from giving birth to Max. So she said to come in. I called Matt and he and Hayley came over. Mark got up and got ready. Including finding the baby seat in the garage, just in case. I gathered up the last of the stuff we thought we would need and we headed out. I was still having contractions and they were still fairly strong. When we got to the ER I had Mark talk to the receptionist while I went to pee. I was still having contractions. A nurse from Labor and Delivery came down with a wheelchair to get me.

While she was wheeling us up she was asking us if we had been there before. She thought she remembered Mark. I told Mark he looked distinctive. He was joking with the nurse about my appearance, and she commented that she really only gets to see the back of my head while pushing me up to the L&D area. :) We got upstairs and got checked in. I was allowed another pee break. I was still having contractions. I got into the gown and got into bed and they put on the monitors. And then I had zero contractions for the next two hours and they sent us home!

But they did confirm that the 2 hours of contractions I DID have left me 2cm dilated and 30% effaced. But I could stay like that for a month. Or I could have Margaret tonight. It's all a mystery. They were also able to confirm that she is VERY active and very healthy. My blood pressure was good and they had no worries about either of us. I am well hydrated and doing just fine.
